Understanding employment law in Georgia

Georgia follows the employment-at-will doctrine: a job with no fixed term can generally be ended by either the employer or the employee without a specified reason.
However, federal and state laws prohibit certain forms of discrimination, retaliation, and other unlawful employment practices. Most private-sector discrimination charges are filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, generally within 180 days of the conduct.
Georgia has no general state agency process for private-sector unpaid wage claims. Minimum wage and overtime claims are often pursued under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, through the U.S. Department of Labor or in court, and other unpaid pay may be pursued as a contract claim.
Different claims can involve different deadlines and legal standards.
DocDraft helps you organize your information and prepare relevant documents so you can make informed decisions about what comes next.

Does carpet wear from two years of normal living count as damage?
18. Default. If rent is unpaid, Landlord may give Tenant written notice to vacate or pay all that is owed within at least three business days2; if Tenant does not pay or move out within that time, Landlord may file a dispossessory action.
